Ian Simpson spent over 40 years in marine and offshore oil and gas — deck officer, OIM, and operations manager, later general manager of an offshore company operating a fleet of mobile jack-up units. In Doha he set up and ran OPITO OIM training, including the installation and commissioning of the control-room simulators, and later spent five years as a consultant training and assessing offshore installation managers and emergency management teams.
He held Modu Master / OIM certification and served as an OPITO Vocational Competence Assessor before retiring from the industry. He now builds AI training software.
